Scan your document according to the instructions for your scanner, and save it to your computer as a .pdf file. In Word, click File > Open. Browse to the location of the PDF file on your computer and click Open. A message appears, stating that Word will convert the PDF file into an editable Word document. Click OK.
To scan specific files or folders, right-click a file or folder, select Show more options, and then select Scan with Microsoft Defender. When the scan is complete, you'll see the Scan options page letting you know the results of the scan.
Using a camera or webcam, take pictures, take videos, scan codes, scan documents, and scan whiteboards with the Windows Camera app. QR codes or barcodes can be scanned when scanning codes.
Connect your third-party Windows Hello fingerprint reader or camera to your PC, following any manufacturer instructions. Once installation has completed, open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.

iPhone users may have to enable the camera in Settings in order to scan. If you can't use your phone camera, you'll have to manually enter the 9 digit code and the URL.
