X wants both humans and bots to contribute to its Community Notes. An AI-written note, however, will appear under a post only if it's rated as helpful by human contributors.

X is already facing criticism over its AI plans. On Tuesday, former United Kingdom technology minister, Damian Collins, accused X of building a system that could allow "the industrial manipulation of what people see and decide to trust" on a platform with more than 600 million users, The Guardian reported.

Keith Coleman, who leads X’s Community Notes program, spoke about the plan in a recent interview with Bloomberg: “They can help deliver a lot more notes faster with less work, but ultimately the decision on what’s helpful enough to show still comes down to humans. So we think that combination is incredibly powerful.”
