Protests and events against President Donald Trump’s controversial policies that include mass deportations and cuts to Medicaid and other safety nets for poor people are planned Thursday at more than 1,

Protesters are set to take to the streets in over 1,600 locations across the nation on Thursday, with left-wing activists claiming the Trump administration’s immigration policies and Medicaid changes are rolling back civil rights.

"It's vastly greater than what we had anticipated," an organizer said about an event to honor former Representative John Lewis.
