A quarter of a million people have fled their homes as Super Typhoon Man-yi bears down on the Philippines. It will be the sixth major storm to hit the country in the past month, with lethal storm surges predicted.

Around 255,000 people have fled their homes ahead of Super Typhoon Man-yi, which is expected to make landfall later on Nov 16 or early Nov 17, becoming the sixth major storm to pummel the archipelago nation in the past month.

Typhoon Usagi swamped rural villages in floods, knocked down power and displaced thousands more people before blowing away on Friday from the northern Philippines, which has now been pounded by five major storms in less than a month.
