The world’s oldest marathon runner, Fauja Singh, who was still competing after turning 100 more than a decade ago, died in a hit-and-run on Monday, according to India police. He was 114.

Fauja Singh was a torchbearer at the 2012 London Olympics and set eight age-group world records in one day. He was honored by the queen of England.
On Monday, July 14, at around 3:30 p.m. local time, Singh, 114, was struck by a vehicle near his village, Bias, in India while crossing a road, according to the biographer. Singh's village was located in Punjab, India, in the northern part of the country, near its border with Pakistan.
