Stewart McLaurin knew it was coming. But the president of the White House Historical Association says it was still “jarring” to see the entire White House East Wing torn down as part of President Donald Trump's plan to add a ballroom.
The Oversight Committee said aides to former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. covered up his deterioration and asserted that many of his decisions are “void.” The committee’s ranking Democrat called the report a “sham investigation.
President Trump has made changes to historical elements of the White House, such as the Rose Garden, the Cabinet Room and most recently, the East Wing, which was completely demolished i025.
In its 225-year history, the White House has been burned by British troops, reconstructed, expanded, and gut-renovated. This past week, it was partly demolished by its current occupant, who is building a huge ballroom.
