Making her first appearance as Saturday Night Live ’s musical guest since 2011, Cher performed two songs from her 2023 Christmas album titled, simply, Christmas. She was flanked by backup dancers for “DJ Play a Christmas Song” and covered Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run.”

There will be a new episode of “SNL” on Saturday, Dec. 20 and it will be the last one for the year. Ariana Grande is expected to host with musical guest Cher. This isn’t the first time Grande will be hosting “SNL” as she hosted back in October 2024 and served as the musical guest in September 2014 and March 2024.

Less than a week after the filmmaker and his wife, Michele Reiner, were killed by their son, Nick Reiner, the late-night comedy sketch series included a nod to Rob — who hosted the third episode of SNL back in October 1975. (The show premiered earlier that month on Oct. 11.)

The final new “SNL” episode of 2025 will air on Dec. 20. “Wicked: For Good” star Ariana Grande will close the season when she hosts the show for the third time. Her return to “SNL” for the 2025 Christmas episode comes just over a year after she stopped by Studio 8H for Season 50.

Saturday Night Live pays tribute to filmmaker Rob Reiner after his tragic passing this month. Rob Reiner, who was found dead along with his wife on December 14th, was honoured in the final SNL episode this Saturday. They put up an old image of the director along with his name on the screen before the goodnight segment.

Ariana Grande is team Carol Burnett. The iciness between comedy legend Carol Burnett and SNL boss Lorne Michaels is well-documented, and Grande made her stance clear when she sported one of Burnett’s famous ensembles to promote her upcoming hosting stint on the show this weekend.

Saturday Night Live' returns with a new episode tonight featuring first-time host, actor Josh O'Connor and returning musical guest Lily Allen.

SNL Season 51 Episode 9 featured Ariana Grande as the host alongside Cher as the musical guest. One of the performances saw Ariana Grande and Marcello Hernández as dance choreographers teaching various dance moves to their students. This included Bowen Yang and additional Saturday Night Live artists.

Starring on All in the Family as Michael "Meathead" Stivic at the time, Reiner hosted SNL 's third-ever episode on Oct. 25, 1975, following in the footsteps of premiere host George Carlin and episode 2 host Paul Simon. But Reiner was the first host to also appear in sketches with the cast.
