A day after Elon Musk escalated his feud with Donald Trump and announced the formation of a new U.S. political party, the Republican president's Treasury secretary said Musk should stick to running his companies.

T reasury Secretary Scott Bessent criticized Elon Musk 's new political party, saying the world's wealthiest man wasn't a popular part of the Trump administration. Asked about Musk's move, Bessent told CNN's Dana Bash that the ideas behind the administration's Department of Government Efficiency effort, also known as DOGE, were "very popular."

The Treasury secretary also lavished praise on his boss, saying Donald Trump is the “most economically sophisticated president in the past 100 years, maybe ever.”
